Description

Day 1: Puno - La Paz The tour to the Salar de Uyuni from Puno starts with the pick up service at the hotel in Puno, followed by the transfer to the city terminal, to cross the border between Peru and Bolivia. On the way we will make a stop for you to have lunch (at the passenger's expense). We will then continue on our route to La Paz. We will arrive in La Paz, the capital of Bolivia, where we will explore its cable car, considered the most important in South America, providing panoramic views of the city all the way to downtown. Then, we will take a short guided tour of the colonial quarter, walking along 16 de Julio and Mariscal Santa Cruz avenues until we reach the San Francisco church and Plaza Murillo. Here, you will have the opportunity to admire the Cathedral of Our Lady of La Paz, the Legislative and Government Palace. Afterwards, you will have free time for dinner (at your own expense), before boarding the bus to Uyuni. Day 2: Salar de Uyuni - La paz Arriving in Uyuni in the morning, we will walk to a place for breakfast (own expense). Then, we will board a 4x4 vehicle that will take us to the iconic Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt desert in the world. Along the way, we will stop at the Uyuni train cemetery, a fascinating open-air museum that exhibits the first locomotives that ran in Bolivia. We will alight from the 4x4 vehicle in the town of Colchani, near the salt flat. Here, we will witness the salt extraction process and explore the Playa Blanca hotel, a fascinating structure built entirely of salt blocks. Afterwards, we will enjoy a regional lunch that will include an appetizer, a main course and an infusion. Later, we will venture into the desert until we reach Incahuasi Island, located in the heart of the salt flat, where the imposing cacti take center stage. You will have time both in Incahuasi and in the salt flat to take pictures before returning to the town of Uyuni. In Uyuni, you will have free time to rest, shop and dine on your own. At 8:00 p.m., we will head to the bus terminal to take the bus back to La Paz. Day 3: La Paz - Pomata - Juli - Puno At 5:00 a.m., we will arrive in La Paz and take a bus to Desaguadero to cross the border again. In Desaguadero, you will have time for breakfast (at your own expense) before heading to the Peruvian municipality of Pomata. There, we will visit the beautiful colonial temple of Santiago Apostle, decorated inside by outstanding Cusquenian artists. We will drive to Juli, known as the 'Rome of America' for its abundance of temples and its history as a center of evangelization in colonial times. We will explore the temple of San Juan de Letran or Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion, built by Dominicans and Jesuits, depending on availability or season. After visiting these two locations, we will return to Puno and drop you off at your hotel around 1:00 pm. This tour does not include lodging since the trip between La Paz and Uyuni is done at night, so you sleep on the bus.
