Description

Our expedition begins at 10:30 a.m. (pickup must be coordinated with our team) We will visit as our first destination the 'Train Cemetery', an abandoned open-air museum of locomotives from the 19th century (1940) with a crucial importance for the Bolivian history We will have time to take photos at the site and the explanations of our local guide. Our trip continues through the small town of 'Colcachi', a small town located on the border of the Salinas, this place is characterized by its souvenirs and crafts of alpaca, vicuña and other unique salty decorations, in addition to its salt miners who process the salt to be sold to the local public. (Not long ago, 31 kilos of salt used to cost 0.90 cents, can you believe it?) Colchani is also home to the world's only salt hotels, including Palacio de Sal, Luna Salada and Cristal Samana. Are you ready to discover the largest salt desert in the world? At 9 pm we have a buffet dinner at the hotel to end the day. At 9 am we will enjoy our buffet breakfast at the hotel, we must have all our luggage ready to start our second great adventure! The day on Mars begins with a visit to the main viewpoint of the Ollagüe Volcano, where you can observe the fumaroles and explore kilometers of petrified lava with very interesting formations. We also visited a huge 'rock forest'! If we are lucky, we will enjoy our curious friends called 'Vizcachas' (large wild rabbits) and the famous Andean fox. Our path will become arider and the landscapes will begin to honor the planet Mars. We will arrive at our destination for the day! After passing the rock forest, we will enjoy 4 beautiful mountain lagoons, 2 of them with flamingos on the banks. After our enjoyable day, welcome to Hotel Tayka del Desierto 3* superior, a hotel run by locals that is literally in the middle of nowhere. Inside the hotel, we will have time to rest, appreciate the sunset in the surroundings and end the day with a local dinner. Today is the most important day of our trip! We started with the first rays of sun and enjoyed our breakfast at the hotel at 5:30 a.m. Then at about 6am we start our day exploring the deserts! Our first stop will be the “Stone Tree” Geyser Sol de la Manana We will register our visit to the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve (psssst you can order your Eduardo Avaroa Reserve stamp in your passport here) and then we will continue our way to the 'Geyser Sol de Mañana' and enjoy the landscapes of Mars. green lagoon We enjoy the views of the 'Green Lagoon', a lagoon without natural life due to its high concentrations of minerals, this lagoon turns the color of its waters into an intense turquoise We will arrive at approximately 5:00 pm in Uyuni where we will leave all the borrowed equipment, then we will drop you off at the meeting point.
