Description
Embark on a 2-day trip to Lake Titicaca in Puno, with an overnight stay at a local family home on Amantani Island. Visit the Uros Floating Islands, Amantani Island, and Taquile Island. Enjoy a scenic boat ride, and learn about the local culture and traditions.
Day 1: Puno - Uros - Amantani
Start your journey with a visit to the Uros Floating Islands. Learn about the island-building process and be welcomed by the locals, who will introduce you to their traditions and culture.
Travel to Amantani Island and be greeted by the locals. After having lunch at their home, explore the fields and experience their way of life. In the evening, hike to Pacha Tata and Pacha Mama peaks, considered sacred. Enjoy an enchanting sunset view from the top.
At night, after dinner, be invited to the community hall to enjoy live Andean folkloric music.
Day 2: Amantani - Taquile - Puno
After breakfast, walk back to the boat pier and board the boat to Taquile Island. Hike up the hill to a viewpoint and learn about the life and culture of the Taquileños.
Taquile Island is renowned for its craft production, particularly its beautiful textiles. Although narrow, only about 1 km wide, the island stretches about 6 to 7 km in length and boasts numerous pre-Inca and Inca ruins and terracing.
After lunch, return to Puno, and the tour concludes around 4:30 PM.
