Description

At 4:00 a.m., we will pick you up at the meeting point in Puno. We assure you that getting up early will be worth it! We will head towards the border between Peru and Bolivia, located in the town of Desaguadero. Here we will enter Bolivia heading to the capital. After a four-hour road trip, we will arrive in La Paz and take a guided tour touring the colonial neighborhood, 16 de Julio Avenue and Mariscal Santa Cruz Avenue. Of course, we will enter the historic center to see the 16th century church of San Francisco, the elegant and neoclassical cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Paz and Plaza Murillo. We will then take a break and leave you free time to have lunch on your own, and we will continue the tour admiring the convent of Santo Domingo and the Witches' Market, a place full of mystical and esoteric objects that you will love to browse. After the visit to La Paz, we will take the bus again that will take us to the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, the center of one of the most important pre-Columbian cultures in Bolivia. We will take a tour of its buildings, revealing all its secrets: the Kalasasaya temple, the Akapana pyramid and the Sun Gate. We will also have the opportunity to admire the queros or ceremonial vessels, as well as its walls decorated with figures of human faces called huaco-portraits. During the tour of Tiwanaku we will learn a multitude of curiosities about the Tiwanacota empire, which extended through the central Andes to Lake Titicaca. At the end of the tour, you will have an overview of the cultural and heritage wealth of Bolivia. With this feeling, we will cross the border with Peru again and we will be in Puno between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
