Second day (breakfast and lunch included)
Morning – We started the day early, where we walked from the lodging to the dinosaur footprints in Niño Mayo. We will visit a local weaver, who will show us the secrets of the textile art of this community.
Then, we continued on to one little village called Majada.
We walked through the colorful mountains to the Majada community. It is a 5-kilometer walk where we can enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Frailes Mountains. After about two hours of walking, a private vehicle will be waiting to take us back to Sucre.
12 kilometers approximately
The hike on the first day has three sections: the first is a descent along the Inca stone paths; the second follows the river on mostly flat terrain with some short and gentle ups and downs; and the final section is an ascent around the mountains, starting with a steep climb and then continuing along the slopes until we reach the Maragua crater.
On the second day, we start by walking through the Maragua crater. To exit the crater, we hike uphill until we reach a beautiful viewpoint from where we can see the entire landscape inside the crater. After that, the trail becomes easier, with short ups and downs, leading us to the dinosaur footprints area. From the footprints to Majada, the path is easy but very scenic.
