Description
At the agreed time, we'll pick you up at your hotel to begin our tour of Puno. Prepare to discover an impressive city on the shores of Lake Titicaca.
The tour will commence with a guided walk of the Arch of Independence or Deusta, built in honour of the patriots of the battles of Junin and Ayacucho. Near this monument, you'll find the viewpoint of Wajsapata, a small hill that we'll climb and gaze upon a magnificent view of the bay of Puno.
We'll also see the eye-catching sculpture of the Puma, which crowns a water fountain symbolizing the sacred lake of the Incas. But the tour doesn't stop here, we'll continue through the Pino park on our way to the historic center of Puno and where we'll visit the church of San Juan, which houses the image of the Virgin of Candelaria.
Our next stop will take us to Lima Boulevard, one of the commercial streets of the city until we reach the Plaza de Armas. Here we'll see the cathedral and the balcony of the Count of Lemos, located in the residence where the viceroy stayed upon his arrival in Puno in 1668.
After this visit, we'll board a bus to go to the Yavari Museum Ship, a 19th century gunboat that was part of the Peruvian Navy. The ship was built in a shipyard in England and transported to Lake Titicaca.
We'll visit the museum and head inside so that we can learn all about the interesting history of how this iron ship has become the first museum ship in Peru.
To conclude our 4 hour tour, we'll take you back to your hotel in Puno.
