Description

This sea of salt in the Bolivian Altiplano has become a must for those who travel to the neighboring country. The Salar de Uyuni that merges with the sky and islands with giant cacti are part of its surreal landscapes. Also worth mentioning are its Colored Lagoons, rich in flora and fauna, where we can see Flamingos and Llamas. The tour starts with a visit to the Train Cemetery, which are remains of machinery dating back to the late 19th century. After 30 minutes you will visit Colchani, a small town where you will observe the salt process. If you like to buy crafts made from salt or textiles made from llama or alpaca wool, this is a good place to choose one. Then get ready to see the wonderful Salar de Uyuni, which is over 10,000 square kilometers. Inside the Salar you will see the Piles of Salt (small pyramids of salt that the townspeople make to dry and then process the salt). Then you will see the Ojos del Salar (which are natural conduits through which salt water circulates and end in holes). Then you will visit the first and only Salt Hotel (Museum) within the Salar. Continuing with the tour you will go directly to Incahuasi Island, where you will see giant cacti, petrified coral rock formations and a spectacular panoramic view of the Salar. In this place you will have lunch. Returning to the city of Uyuni you will enjoy the landscape in the middle of the salt flat and of course there will be no shortage of photographs taken with perspective. Departure at 10:30 from the city of Uyuni Visit the train cemetery Colchani artisan village on the shores of the salt flat Incahuasi Island Salt Museum Dakar Monument Flag Sector Salt piles or salt mines Ends in Uyuni at 18:00 Note: During the rainy period, it is possible that the itinerary described will be modified and Incahuasi Island will not be visited, since it is located in the center of the salt flat, a place where there is a greater concentration of water during the rainy period.
