Description
Travel from La Paz to Uyuni on an overnight bus. Then, embark on a full-day tour of the Salar de Uyuni. Enjoy a picnic lunch, a glass of wine at sunset, and a night bus back to La Paz.
Day 1: La Paz to Uyuni
Go to the bus office at 20:30 for registration, then depart on the bus to Uyuni at 21:00. Inside the bus, enjoy the service of dinner, breakfast, a bottle of water, a hot drink, heating, toilets, a polar blanket, Wi-Fi, and a first aid kit.
Day 2: Uyuni
Arrive in the city of Uyuni at 7:30 a.m. Enjoy free time to buy snacks, water, and other things for your trip. Then, go to the office, 1 block from the bus station.
Start your tour at 10:30 a.m. with a trip to the Salar de Uyuni. The first stop is the eerie 'Cementerio de Trenes' (Train Cemetery), which is located on the outskirts of Uyuni. Then visit the small settlement of Colchani (salt miners' workshops next to the salt flat), there you will also find handicrafts made from salt, and textile art made from llama and alpaca wool. These are excellent souvenirs to take home.
Take pictures while navigating the vast white expanse of salt, wade the 'Ojos de Agua Salada', visit also: a hotel made entirely of salt that is currently used as a museum - restaurant, Flags of the world (where you can bring yours and put it there for free) and a Monument of the Dakar race. After a morning of exploration, lunch will be served on the way.
After that, you will have time to hike to the top of Incahuasi Island to see giant cactus and rock formations made of petrified coral. Important: Due to the rainy season (January to March), it is not possible to access Incahuasi Island. Then, take your time to organize your group to take fun photos distorting perspective and proportion, on the blinding white surface of the salt flat, playing with the scene is sure to make for fun and memorable photos.
Finally, head to a large area for the unique experience of watching a beautiful sunset over the salt flat, spreading its dazzling colors all over the Salar de Uyuni, and enjoy it with a glass of wine. Return from your excursion to Uyuni between 19:15 and 19:45.
Afterward, head to the bus office on your own at 20:30. Depart on the bus from Uyuni to La Paz at 21:00.
Day 3: Uyuni to La Paz
Arrive in the city of La Paz between 6:15 am and 6:35 am.
