From La Paz: Guided tour of the Cholitas Art Gallery and wrestling show

Description

We will start this activity at the meeting point at 4:00 pm (at Buhos Tours). From there, we will walk for 10 to 15 minutes to the cable car stop heading towards Ciudad del Alto in order to catch the bus to the Cholita Exhibition Hall. Once we arrive, our guide will welcome us and provide information about the mural created by an artist who recognized the work of the women in polleras. Inside the exhibition hall, we will see the gym where these brave women train. Then, in the next room, you will find a model of the ring, wood-carved art, masks, and a display of Cholita attire that conveys a great deal of relevant information about them, as well as a small representation of their living quarters. If you'd like, you can dress up as a Cholita, as there are items of clothing such as polleras (skirts), corsets, blankets, and hats; we recommend giving it a try. After the tour of the exhibition hall, we will continue to the ring room to enjoy the “Cholitas Wrestling” show, in which both men and women will participate. Enjoy the show with popcorn and a soft drink. At the end of the show, you will have the opportunity to participate in a photo session with the Cholitas wrestlers. We will then return by bus to the city center around 8:00 PM.

• - This activity includes an outdoor section with a walk to the cable car station nearest the meeting point.
