Description
Embark on a unique adventure across the waters of Lake Titicaca, heading to two of Bolivia’s most iconic destinations: the sacred Isla del Sol (Sun Island) and the peaceful Isla de la Luna (Moon Island) .
The tour begins with a hotel pickup from Copacabana. We’ll head to the local dock, where you'll board a boat and begin a scenic ride offering breathtaking views of the world’s highest navigable lake. Your first stop will be Isla de la Luna, once home to the priestesses of the Sun during the Inca Empire. There, you’ll explore the ruins of the Temple of the Virgins, featuring beautiful colonial-era reliefs carved into the stone, and enjoy privileged views of the lake from atop its cliffs.
Next, you’ll continue to Isla del Sol, considered in Inca mythology as the birthplace of the sun. During the guided tour, you’ll visit archaeological and symbolic sites such as the Sacrificial Table, the Chinkana Labyrinth, Playa de la Sirena (Mermaid's Beach), the Sacred Rock, and the famous Footprints of the Sun, which legend says mark the spot where the sun first rose.
After the visit, you’ll make a short stop at a floating island built along the lakeshore, constructed using traditional totora reed techniques. There, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch of fried trout, a regional specialty.
The tour ends with your return to Copacabana around 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm, depending on weather conditions.
