Description

Pickup is available from Uyuni bus station or airport; please provide your arrival time. The tour begins at 10:30 am with departure from our office to the train cemetery, located 2 km from Uyuni, to see rusting locomotives.

Next, visit Colchani, a salt-processing town where you can browse local salt crafts. Continue to the Uyuni Salt Flats, stopping to see salt blocks, salt piles, and natural salt formations such as the Hand of Salt and salt pyramids. Visit the giant salt monument commemorating the Dakar Rally.

Enjoy lunch at Playa Blanca, the first salt hotel now converted into a museum featuring international flags. Meals include your choice of llama chops with royal quinoa or fried chicken with French fries and salad; vegetarian and vegan options are available. Tables and chairs are made entirely of salt.

After lunch, visit the center of the salt flats for a photo session guided by a professional photographer who will help create perspective photos with props such as dinosaurs. Then, visit Incahuasi Island (Fish Island) in the salt flats' center; note this visit is unavailable during the rainy season.

In the afternoon, return to Playa Blanca to put on rain boots before heading to the reflections area of the salt lake, where water creates mirror-like effects for another photo session.

As the sun sets, enjoy a table set in the water with red wine, juices, chips, ham, cheese, olives, and gumboots provided. The tour concludes with drop-off at your Uyuni hotel or bus station around 7:30 pm.
