Description
The tour departs around 4:30 p.m. from Uyuni in a shared 4×4 vehicle seating 6 to 7 passengers plus the guide. Travelers from various countries join this experience, turning stops into opportunities to share stories and take creative photographs.
A Spanish-speaking, highly experienced driver/guide leads the route, providing safe transport across highland terrain while sharing insights about the region's culture and geography. The guide also assists with capturing unique photos of the salt flats.
The journey includes heading into the salt flat, which covers 10,400 km², to witness the sunset. The guide selects optimal spots to see the sun’s reflection on the salt water, creating a mirror effect that combines sky and ground. During the rainy season (January to mid-March), waterproof boots are provided for comfort.
Guests can enjoy a small tasting of local wines while watching the sunset. After dark, the guide helps with photographing the Milky Way and points out notable stars.
The tour concludes around 9:30 p.m. with a return to Uyuni city.
