Description

Your day begins at around 9:00 AM with pickup from Uyuni Airport or the bus terminal. Travel in a private 4x4 with your guide as you leave the city and enter the open landscapes of the Bolivian Altiplano. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy breakfast at Cielo & Sal Hotel before starting the journey.

Begin at the Train Cemetery, where you can walk among historic locomotives while learning about Uyuni's railway past. Continue to Colchani, a local salt-producing community, to see how salt is processed and browse handmade crafts before entering the vast Uyuni Salt Flat.

On the salt flat, visit Playa Blanca, the former salt hotel now used as a museum, followed by the Flag Plaza and Dakar Monument. Then leave the busiest areas behind and travel toward Coqueza, where mountains, volcanic landscapes, and open Altiplano scenery create a quieter atmosphere.

In Coqueza, discover ancient mummies and learn about the cultural heritage of the communities that have lived in this remote region. Depending on the season and local conditions, you may also see llamas, flamingos, and other high-altitude wildlife.

Enjoy a picnic lunch with drinks in the open Altiplano, surrounded by natural landscapes. Take time to relax, photograph the scenery, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before continuing.

Next, explore Chiquini Cave and its natural rock formations, discovering a geological side of the region beyond the salt landscape. Continue to Incahuasi Island, where you can walk among giant cacti growing from an ancient coral formation and enjoy panoramic views across the Salar.

Later, enjoy dedicated time for creative photography on the salt flat. Use the endless horizon and unusual sense of scale to create perspective photographs, with your guide helping you find interesting viewpoints and compositions.

As afternoon turns to evening, head to a scenic location to watch the sunset. Take your time as the changing light creates different tones across the salt surface and the landscape becomes quieter.

After sunset, return to Uyuni by private 4x4, arriving at approximately 7:30 PM. This experience goes beyond a standard salt-flat visit by combining railway history, local community life, ancient heritage, wildlife, geology, giant cacti, creative photography, and sunset in one private journey through the Altiplano.
