Description
The tour begins at 10:30 am with a drive to the Uyuni Salt Flats. The first stop is the Train Graveyard on Uyuni’s outskirts, where you can see Bolivia’s first locomotives and learn about their historical role connecting major cities. Weathered by salt winds, this spot offers unique photo opportunities.
Next, visit Colchani, a small settlement by the salt flats known for salt mining workshops and locally made handicrafts, including salt art and textiles from llama and alpaca wool. Afterward, explore the vast salt expanse, visit the “Ojos de Agua Salada” (salt water eyes), a salt hotel turned museum, the Flags of the World area (you may bring your own flag to display), and the Dakar racing monument.
Lunch is served near Isla Incahuasi (Fish Island). After lunch, hike to the top of the island to see giant cacti and fossilized coral rock formations. Following the hike, gather your group for creative photography sessions using the salt flats’ unique white surface to play with perspective and scale.
The tour concludes with a sunset viewing over the salt flats, accompanied by a glass of wine. The group returns to Uyuni around 7:15 pm.
