Description
Day 1: The tour begins with a pickup from your hotel or the bus station in Puno at 6:30 am. You will be transferred to Puno’s port, the gateway to Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Board a boat to visit the Floating Islands of Los Uros, constructed from reeds. A guide will provide information on the islands’ history, economy, customs, and crafts.
Next, continue by boat for a three-hour journey to Amantani Island across Lake Titicaca. Along the way, observe diverse landscapes and the Andes mountain range. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by a local family that will host you overnight, offering insight into their daily life, customs, and meals including lunch. In the afternoon, you may hike to Pacha Tata, one of the island’s sacred mountains. Overnight stay is at the family’s home on Amantani.
Day 2: After a traditional breakfast, depart by boat for a one-hour trip to Taquile Island. Meet the local community known for their cooperative spirit and well-preserved traditions. Taquile is recognized by UNESCO for its advanced textile industry, where men begin spinning and weaving from a young age. At midday, enjoy a typical lunch on the island. The tour concludes with a return to Puno, arriving around 5:00 pm.
