Description
The Death Road is a well-known route offering an exhilarating bike ride through impressive Bolivian mountains and waterfalls. Evolution Adventure Travel emphasizes safety, professionalism, and enjoyment throughout the tour.
The tour begins at 7 am with hotel pickup. Guests receive breakfast at the workshop before heading to the summit. Bikes and detailed instructions are provided for the approximately 65 km descent.
The initial 22 km descend on paved road from 4700 meters altitude to Unduavi, lasting around 45 minutes. Then, participants transfer by vehicle to Chuspipata to start the second stage: a 41 km unpaved trail to Yolosa. This section takes about three hours and passes through vegetation and small waterfalls, with rest stops and energy snacks included.
Unlimited drinking water is supplied. A support vehicle follows closely, allowing riders to rest as needed. Layered clothing is recommended due to temperature changes descending toward the Yungas region.
Helmets equipped with Go-Pro mounts are provided, and the guide takes photos and videos for you.
The day ends at Hotel Villa Verde with lunch and free time to use the pool and showers. Return to La Paz takes approximately three hours, with drop-off between 7:15 and 8 pm at your hotel or preferred location.
Optional Zip Line Activity
After San Juan waterfalls, participants can try a 500-meter zip line in the Ninoska community using provided equipment. This adds about 45 minutes to the tour. Price: $13.
