Description

Full-Day Death Road: Andean Heights and Yungas Trails

Start the experience in La Paz with a drive toward La Cumbre, a high mountain pass surrounded by the rugged scenery and distant peaks of the Cordillera Real. Meet the cycling guide, collect your full-suspension bike with hydraulic disc brakes and protective gear, and receive safety instructions before setting off.

Paved Slopes

Cover the first 22 km on a paved downhill road surrounded by high-altitude Andean scenery. This initial section provides time to adjust to the bike and become comfortable with the terrain before reaching the next stage of the route.

Pause Before The Road

Around 45 minutes into the ride, stop at the checkpoint leading to the Death Road. Pay the 50 BOB entrance fee per person and use the break for water, photographs, a short rest, and a bicycle check.

Death Road Descent

Enter the historic Death Road with your professional guide and follow its winding mountain track. Steep hillsides, waterfalls, rocky walls, and increasingly lush vegetation accompany the descent as the surroundings gradually shift from the Andes to the greener Yungas.

Supported Cycling

Ride at the pace indicated by the guide while the support vehicle accompanies the group along the route. Stops can be made for water, photographs, brief rests, and equipment checks whenever necessary.

32 km Toward Yolosa

Complete approximately 32 additional kilometers downhill toward Yolosa. Pass the characteristic waterfall section while noticing the transition to warmer temperatures and denser vegetation as elevation decreases throughout the route.

Pool, Showers and Lunch

Once the cycling portion is complete, head to a nearby hotel for some well-earned downtime. Freshen up with a shower, enjoy access to the swimming pool, and sit down for a buffet lunch before continuing with the final part of the day.

Final Road Connection

After lunch, return by vehicle to La Paz. Your full-day experience concludes at approximately 8:00 PM at San Francisco Church.
