Day 1: Puno – Uros Island – Amantaní
After hotel pickup and transfer to the main port, take a boat to Uros Island, inhabited by fishermen and hunters. The floating island is made from totora reeds that grow on the lake’s surface. Learn about how the totora is woven and layered to build the island. Optionally, you can take a traditional reed boat ('balsa de totora') ride.
Next, continue to Amantaní Island where a local family will welcome you to their home. Enjoy a traditional lunch prepared with local ingredients. Visit the pre-Inca Pachatata temple before hiking to the top of the island at 4,130 meters to view the sunset over the lake. Dinner and overnight accommodation are provided at the homestay on Amantaní.
Day 2: Amantaní – Taquile – Puno
After breakfast, travel to Taquile Island, known for its handicrafts and textiles. Learn about the island’s traditional farming techniques, pre-Inca temples, tombs, and terraces.
