Description
Experience La Paz in a different way: through its stories, its colors, and its Andean worldview. You'll be accompanied by a tour guide dressed as an authentic La Paz cholita, who will bring to life legends, myths, and tales from Bolivia's oral tradition as we visit some of the city's most iconic sites. This is not a conventional tour: each stop is part of a story that will allow you to discover the soul of La Paz. We'll start at the historic General Cemetery, where you'll learn about Bolivian traditions related to ancestors, Todos Santos, the Ñatitas, and memory from the perspective of Andean culture. Among mausoleums, flowers, and symbols, you'll hear stories passed down from generation to generation. Then we'll head to the colorful district of Chualluma, a true open-air museum. You'll stroll among its painted houses and murals inspired by the Andean worldview while discovering the stories of Mount Illimani and its ancestors, as well as those of the condor, the puma, and the snake, the three sacred animals of the Andes. From its vantage point, you'll enjoy one of the most beautiful views of La Paz and Illimani. The experience ends with a craft workshop where you'll create your own **illa**, an Andean symbol of abundance, protection, and good wishes. You'll learn the significance of these small amulets within Aymara culture and take your creation with you as a souvenir of the experience. You can also take photos wearing traditional Andean clothing: a shawl, a hat, a poncho, a lluch'u (Andean cap), and other typical accessories, to take home an authentic souvenir of your visit to La Paz. By participating in this experience, you also support the work of El Rincón de Mamá Julia, a self-managed cultural space in La Paz dedicated to promoting reading, writing, oral storytelling, and community development. The revenue generated by this sightseeing tour helps support cultural and educational activities and projects that strengthen access to culture and the participation of children and local communities.Includes
