Description
Full-Day Death Road Mountain Bike Adventure
Your adventure begins in La Paz with transportation to La Cumbre, approximately one hour from the city and located at around 4,700 meters above sea level. Here, your guide will provide your full-suspension mountain bike with hydraulic disc brakes, protective equipment, and a complete safety briefing before beginning the descent.
Leg 1: La Cumbre – 22 km Asphalt Descent
Begin with approximately 22 km of downhill riding on a paved mountain road. This first section allows you to build confidence and become comfortable with your bike while enjoying spectacular high-altitude Andean scenery.
After approximately 45 minutes, stop at the checkpoint where the Death Road entrance fee of 50 BOB p/p is paid. Throughout the descent, a safety vehicle follows the group, with regular stops for water, photos, rest, and bike checks.
Leg 2: The Legendary Death Road – 10 km
Enter the legendary Death Road and continue downhill as a compact group under the supervision of your professional guide. Ride through dramatic mountain scenery, narrow roads, cliffs, waterfalls, and increasingly lush vegetation as you descend from the Andes toward the Yungas.
Safety remains the priority throughout this section, with your guide setting the riding pace and the support vehicle following the group.
Leg 3: Death Road to Yolosa – 32 km
Continue for approximately 32 km through the tropical landscapes of the Yungas. Experience the famous waterfall section and enjoy the dramatic change in scenery and climate as you descend toward Yolosa.
Upon completing the ride, continue to a nearby hotel where you can enjoy access to showers and a swimming pool. Relax after the adventure and enjoy a well-deserved buffet lunch.
Return to La Paz
After lunch, return by vehicle to La Paz. At approximately 8:00 p.m., you will be dropped off at San Francisco Church, where the tour concludes.
