Description

Embark on a 5-day binational expedition designed for mountaineers looking to conquer two giants over 6,000 meters, connecting the Andean valleys of northern Chile with Sajama National Park in Bolivia.

Day 1: Putre – Lauca National Park – Border – Sajama
We'll depart from Putre towards the altiplano, crossing Lauca National Park, with strategic stops for photography and interpretation of the landscape. We complete the immigration formalities with assistance at the Chungará–Tambo Quemado border crossing, where our local partner team meets us. We continue by 4WD to the village of Sajama (4,200 m above sea level), our base of operations. We check in at the hostel, enjoy the welcome dinner, and have a technical briefing before turning in for the night.

Day 2: Summit of Acotango Volcano (6,052 m)
We get up early at 1:30 AM for breakfast and then head out by 4WD until we're above 5,000 meters above sea level. We begin the ascent on foot over mixed terrain along a progressive route to the summit of Acotango Volcano (6,052 m), one of the most accessible six-thousanders in the Andes. After 6 to 8 hours of total trekking and reaching the summit with panoramic views of the salt flats, we return to Sajama for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Active Recovery & Sajama Hot Springs
A strategic rest day to recharge and optimize acclimatization. We'll take leisurely walks through the Montecielo area and explore the high-altitude forests of queñua trees, the highest-growing trees in the world. In the afternoon, we'll relax our muscles in the natural hot springs with a direct view of the majestic Nevado Sajama. Includes full board at the hostel.

Day 4: Summit of Parinacota Volcano (6,342 m)
Early morning departure by 4WD vehicle to the base of Parinacota Volcano. We face a challenging day of 8 to 12 hours in total, tackling continuous scree slopes, gravel, and snow sections until we reach the immense summit crater at 6,342 meters above sea level. After taking in the vastness of the Andes from the summit, we'll descend to the vehicle for our return trip to Sajama. We'll enjoy a restorative hot shower, a celebratory dinner, and some well-deserved rest.

Day 5: Sajama – Customs – Return to Putre / Arica
After breakfast, we'll take the return transfer to the Tambo Quemado border crossing to complete the customs formalities and enter Chile. We conclude the service with the transfer back to Putre (offering advice to those who need a connection to the city of Arica).
